Today another shooting occurred in southern Los Angeles, an occurrence that is tragic but unfortunately not uncommon.  At least three people have died to the violence with another two wounded in multiple shootings in Downey, according to Robert Hohn, the fire department Captain of Downey.

Like most of the tragic shooting in Southern Los Angeles the events surrounding and revolving around the shootings are vague and unclear.  Authorities are, however, working two active crime scenes on Cleta Avenue.  One shooting occurred at a residence and the other at a business.  It is yet to be determined if the shootings are related.

What is known is that the wounded were taken to the hospital, and one of the shootings occurred in broad daylight at 11:30 am at 8700 block of Cleta Avenue, the site of a fire protection business.

We as a compassionate people need to do more to stop tragedies like this.  Two shootings in the same neighborhood on the same day?  This is not normal and should never be mistaken for normal.  It’s not about blame, it is about stepping up and doing what’s right for you and your neighbors.  When you read about incidents like this just don’t breeze by it.  Demand to know what happened and why, and if you have any information that may help report it to your local police department.
